This weekend I got totally into the Christmas Spirit! It was exciting and exhausting all at the same time. This is the first year that I haven't been to busy with finals and packing for christmas break from school... oh yeah thats right I'm supposed to be an adult now! HA!
So, I talked Jon into a day of shopping to finish up for christmas and a night of christmas decorating!! It was fun and tireing all at the same time. We have 2 apartments to decorate after all!!
His idea of decorating... which oddly I agree with and think it is totally awesome, is setting up a Beer-Bottle Chirstmas Tree! We have been saving for months now all of his rolling rock beer bottles! (they are the perfect green and they have cool panted lables!) Seeing as we are no longer college students and have no one to "party" with in Fargo, it took us a long time. Finally Sunday night we finished his beer-bottle tree. Now to give you perspective, the tree is about 4.5' tall and is a combination of plexi glass circles and bottles, + white lights shinning through the bottles!! oh and you can't forget my amazing dollar section star that I have had for 4 years and still havent had to change the batteries!!
IT. IS. AWESOME!!
We will be storing this for future use... yes that is how amazing it is. Thanks Jon for the coolest Christmas tree ever!
Next was my apartment. Now, I tend to go all out for winter... seeing as here in these snowy/cold states, the weather is wintery 60% of the year!!

First my window and doors needed treatment... complete with winter clings and jelly clings!! I <3 Snowflakes!!!Then my very first christmas tree of my very own!! I've wanted to get a christmas tree ever since I moved from dorms to apartments. Each year, it didn't make sense because I was gone for half of the time that I would have to enjoy it! So I went all out... even though its a small tree.

After the tree was put in its place we took time to wrap presents for my family and stick them under the tree. Being the poor-just-out-of-college people we are, we had to improvise on some of the boxes... but I must say we did a pretty dang good job. Both with the boxes and the wrapping!!If the present inside that box below wasn't for a 6 month old baby... I would probably have just left it the way that it was. However, in the spirit of his first christmas we decided that we better wrap it and put a bow on it so that he could at least enjoy the shinny bow!
All in all it was a sucessful weekend of getting into the christmas spirit! We are all set... but dont go and forget what the real meaning of christmas is! Make sure to stop and remind yourself that it isnt about the decorations and the christmas presents (even though that is fun) ... remember there was an amazing little boy born on that day and that is the reason why we celebrate christmas!
